The famous Paris - Roubaix race, known as 'The Hell of the North". Originally, the race was from Paris to Roubaix, in 1977 the start moved to Compiègne, 80km north. From Compiègne the route now follows a grueling and winding 258km route north to Roubaix, hitting the first cobbles after 100km. During the last 150km the cobbles extend more than 50 km. Our very own Guy Pearson once tackled the famous Roubaix cobbles (in a sportive).
